Being back at Duke...
… has been good but also kind of strange. I mean I don’t belong to this place anymore, nor it to me, not in the same sense. I don’t have food points or ePrint or swiping privileges into the dorms. So odd. But I suppose that’s only the ‘official’ side of Duke. It’s been very good to see people and spend time with folks. I look forward to seeing…...

18 days till...
I move to Charlottesville. Wow. That is so incredibly soon.
Spent almost an hour on the phone with Derek yesterday — talking about the weekly schedule, our intern-trainer time, my role in leadership retreat, etc. Less than 3 weeks. Here we go.

Inception is getting to me...
Last night I had two very vivid dreams, both of which I remembered very clearly this morning. They were distinctly different, and very werd.
Now I can’t remember the first entirely except that I think it involved me fighting in a war or something like that. Did we/I kill people? I’ll have to think on that one, see if it comes back to me. It was conflictual
The second one was SUPER...

no shame
HAHAHA I made the Disqus comment on Jane’s post about Inception — she said there was eye candy. Read the rest.
Hahaha also, Jane, stating possibilities/likelihood of extramarital relations is not a good start to … like… life. ;D back at you.
plainjanekim:
“by “lots of eye candy” did you mean… leo dicaprio, jason gordon-levitt, & tom hardy? you would jane, you...
A sign that I have actually slowed down this week
Yesterday I realized I didn’t know what time it was, but also that it didn’t matter.
A list for the quiet week in July
I have had the chance to have a quiet week, a week where I didn’t really go out and see anyone, were I got to enjoy quiet and my own schedule. The reason it’s so quiet is that I don’t have the car — Mom has been using it to go to VBS everyday and so I’m at home. It has been very nice. Here’s a list of thoughts/things that come to mind now that it’s...
5 Stages of Leaving Church early →
hahaha that’s awesome. “The complication” and “two ushers and a hall monitor tops” haha.
A list for the first weekend of July
This month will be crazy. Here we go! Some are TO DO, some are DONE.
TODAY I:
Wrote 24 thank you notes to partners. Many to be sent out tomorrow and given to partners if I see them at church.
Learned how to make ox-tail stew today.
Had a decent time journaling this morning for the first time in awhile.
Could not believe how God’s shown up in fundraising more/again. I’m now at 125%...
Living in the past tense
Whenever I fall short or sin, whenever my brokenness is what “shines” through, I tend to feel pretty crappy. Sometimes, I go looking for a (usually Christian) song in my iTunes or on YouTube to … empathize with my brokenness and give me a venue to lament. Oftentimes I feel this fits my brokenness, than I have to walk in repentance or something like that.
But most of the times I...
List from 7/4
A list of whatever random things are floating around in my mental airspace.
I like Neon Trees. You can listen to their whole album (“Habits”) on their WEBSITE. To me they sound like… The Killers, Lifehouse, Boys Like Girls, & Rooney all in one, in a good way. I just found out about them 2 days ago through some random YouTube something or other.
I want to get...
Justin Bieber’s “Baby” covered by Neon Trees. Mad good sound.

How is that even possible?
We’re allotted 157 days to get fully-funded. I had my first fundraising training on March 26-28. It’s taken only 95 days to get fully funded. And I didn’t even start working on any FD materials until at least a week after that. So 88 days of work. Especially with that crazy 25%-in-one-day, it’s clear I cannot take credit for this.
Thank You God....

My books from ONS
Due to the generosity of the ONS coordinators and the staff at the NSC (nat’l service center) who donated a lot for our taking, I brought back a rather hefty stack of books. It made packing difficult, but I received some serious inspiration when I realized that packing the books spine-in-first mimics the way you put books in a bookcase, and that this was much more space efficient (since...

Seventh & eight days of ONS
The last two days have been a blur, and I’m kind of tired right now after arriving back in Boston tonight. Hear goes.
DAY 7
Had a session on chapter building principles — three components, (1) visionary guide, (2) missional developer, (3) structure architect. They all intersect and influence each other obviously. Honestly, the chapter-building aspect of the job feels incredibly...
